Stéphanie Allassonnière is Professor of Applied Mathematics in Université Paris Cité, Vice-President in charge of research economical transfer and industrial partnerships. She is also a PR[AI]RIE fellow and deputy director of this AI institute. She received her PhD degree in Applied Mathematics (2007), studies one year as postdoctoral fellow in the Center for Imaging Science at the Johns Hopkins University, Baltimore. She then joined the Applied Mathematics department of Ecole Polytechnique in 2008 as assistant professor and moved to Paris Descartes (now Université Paris Cité) school of medicine in 2016 as Professor. She is in charge of several training programs ranging from the training of engineers in AI to the training of medical students through MD-PhD track. She is also responsible for the Master of Technological Entrepreneurship in Health. Her research focus on statistical modeling of medical databases in order to understand the phenomenon under study both at the population and the individual level. She has recently proposed methods to create synthetic data from high dimension data in the context of low sample size. These methods help design classifiers, propose early prediction and decision support systems and may be used in the future for clinical trials. She is also cofounder of a startup named Sonio which supports the practitioner in monitoring pregnancy, women’s and children’s healthcare, and reassuring families using AI.
