Agnès BUZYN

French Minister of Solidarities and Health

Starting as an intern at Hôpitaux de Paris, Agnès Buzyn has spent most of her career as a haematology clinician and academic at Paris University V Necker Hospital where she was Head of the Adult Intensive Care Unit for Haematology and Bone Marrow Grafts from 1992 to 2011.
Her career as researcher led to her heading up an Inserm team working on tomour immunology at Institut Cochin-Paris V (2002-2006).
She also sat on higher education advisory committees for the Ministry of National Education from 2013 to January 2016. She was appointed to the Board of Directors of the French National Cancer Institute (INCa) in 2009, as a person with special skills, and became its Vice-Chair in October 2010, before being named Chair by the President of France on 27 May 2011. She fulfilled these roles until February 2016. 
In March 2016, she was appointed President of the HAS (Haute Autorité en Santé), France’s main health oversight authority. 
On 17 May 2017, Agnès Buzyn entered the government, when she was appointed Minister of Social Affairs and Health.
