CHU Montpellier

France

A university degree in Environmental Studies (Paris IV the Sorbonne) and 11 years of operational experience with the Paris Fire Brigade (1988), as well as collaborations with private entities (preparation and monitoring of the organisation of the security at the Winter Olympics of Albertville 1992, opening of the Disneyland Park Paris 1992, opening of the City of Music - Park La Villette 1995 ...) and also activities related to the Ministry of the Interior, have led François Gracia to discover the health care environment by integrating the Gustave Roussy Institute (Paris Region - IGR - 1st European Centre for Research and Treatment of Cancer) as Environment and Safety Fire Prevention Manager in February 1999.
This function, beyond the areas of safety, enabled him to take on Environmental issues, particularly with regard to Risk Prevention.
After 7 years in this position, François Gracia joined the University Hospital Centre of Montpellier in September 2006 as head of the Fire Safety and Security Service within the Department of Safety and Sustainable Development attached to the General Directorate of the University Hospital Centre at that time.
A new challenge was proposed to him in 2014 to improve the regulatory, operational and economic aspects in terms of accreditation and quality of waste management at the University Hospital Centre (5 major facilities, 2,600 beds, 10,700 employees ...). From twenty or so centres, the University Hospital Centre of Montpellier now has 47 centres for sorting, recycling and recovery of waste, some of which generate revenue and are innovative.
