A graduate of Sciences Po Paris and the National School of Administration (ENA), he is a senior civil servant specializing in social affairs.
Politically active since the 1990s, he was elected General Councillor of Essonne in 1998 and went on to serve as President of the Essonne Departmental Council (representing 1.3 million inhabitants) from 2011 to 2015. Elected to the National Assembly in 2012, he returned as a Member of Parliament in 2022, where he currently sits on the Social Affairs Committee. Since 2021, he has also served as a Regional Councillor for Île-de-France.
Jérôme Guedj is known for his deep commitment to social policy, particularly in areas related to aging, public health, and the fight against discrimination. A tireless advocate for France’s Social Security system, which he considers a cornerstone of the republican pact, he has proposed enshrining it in the Constitution to ensure its long-term protection in the face of future challenges.
Through his legislative work, he strives to improve support for people who have lost their independence, ensure equal access to healthcare, and safeguard the financial sustainability of the system in the face of demographic change. He is a vocal opponent of any attempts to privatize or diminish the role of public authority in this sector.
A universalist republican, he consistently upholds the principles of secularism and equal respect for all citizens of the Republic.
