Gérard RAYMOND

President

France Assos Santé

France

Born in 1949, Gérard Raymond had his life turned upside down in 1984 when he was first diagnosed with type 1 diabetis. He managed to overcome the constraints linked to the disease by practicing sports diligently, which led him to successively create various associations to promote the development of physical activity and sports for people with diabetes. It is within this scope that he set up a partnership with the French Association of Diabetics (AFD), of which he joined the national office in 1998. He then served as President and Secretary General of the AFD, and led a dynamic transformation within the association, which became a federation, until the creation of the Diabetes LAB in 2015, which he initiated.

He was elected head of France Assos Santé in June 2019, driven by the desire to move patient and user associations from representation to full participation, in order to become a force of proposal and take their share of responsibility in the construction of tomorrow's healthcare system.

Eager to expand the levers of action of the collective beyond advocacy, he is convinced that associations must seize the uses of digital health to influence changes in the health system, including conducting specific studies among patients.
At the same time, he defends these causes within the Health Data Hub, of which he has been the Vice President since 2019.

In 2021, Gérard Raymond was appointed member of the Economic, Social and Environmental Council (CESE) and elevated to the rank of Knight of the Legion d'honneur.
