Gaétan Casanova is a medical doctor specializing in public health in the Ile-de-France region, after having started his career in anesthesia and intensive care. He works particularly on issues of governance, health system management and innovation.

From 2020 to 2022, he is President of the National trade union of residents (ISNI), the first union of medical residents in France.

Before entering medicine, he first obtained a Master II in health law at the University of Toulouse I Capitole (UT1).

In 2010 he was elected Vice President of the university in charge of student life at UT1. In 2021 he was elected to the National council for higher education and research (CNESER) for the Federation of general student associations (FAGE).

He is currently the medical advisor of the French Federation of Home Hospitalization (FNEHAD).
